摘要

Corrosion inhib ition by two newly synthesized Schiff's bases viz. N- (4- N, N dimethylaminobenzal) I -naphthylamine (SBJ and N-(4-methoxybenzal) 1-naphthylamine (SB_2) on mild steel in acid media (HCl, H_2SO_4 and binary mixture of HCl and H_2SO_4 have been studied using weight loss method. The study revealed that inhibition efficiency in binary mixture of HCl and H_2SO_4 of equal concentration is higher than in H_2SO_4 alone and lower than that in HCl alone. Inhibition efficiency of both the inhibitors increases with increasing concentration of inhibitors, while it decreases with increasing concentration of HCl and increases with increasing concentration of H_2SO_4 and binary mixture. It was found that inhibition efficiency is more in HCl than in H_2SO_4 solution. SB_2 is a better corrosion inhibitor than SB_1
