An Overview of Structure, Mechanism and Applications of Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors

A limited literature review of the past several years on Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors (VCIs) has been summarized. The paper discusses definitions, classification, structural features, corrosion inhibition mechanism and methods of evaluation of VCIs. Practical methods of using VCIs for corrosion protection of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys are discussed with some specific examples.
