摘要

We read with great interest the letter of Kwon et al. on H1N1 virus as a possible cause of pityriasis rosea (PR), but we cannot agree on their conclusions. Their letter dealt with a child who had PR and influenza symptoms, which had allegedly developed 4 days after PR herald patch. PCR on nasal secretion was positive for H1N1 virus, but skin was not. Nonetheless, the authors suggest that PR in their patient 'is a systemic reactivation of the novel influenza A infection' and bring the following considerations to support such a conclusion: no evidence of other infections, the viraemic symptoms of the patient and the occurrence of the herald patch within the incubation of H1N1 infection.
