Cognitive and Physical Stimulation Therapy

"Cognitive and Physical Stimulation Therapy" was derived in our center as a direct response to our challenge within the changing environment of our referrals in our community from being mostly comprised of short-term skilled rehabilitation patients with a mix of intermediate care to dementia with behavioral and/or additional cognitive impairment. With our programming as it currently exists, our census has maintained a 93% average compared with the state average 67.9% and national average of 82.2%. National Healthcare Center of Maryland Heights diagnostic characteristics include 61.9% psychiatric diagnoses, compared with a state average of 59.8% and a national average of 55.4%. In comparison to our census mix, our antipsychotropic usage is 18.8% vs 28.4% state and 25.2% nationally.
