The improvement and reorganization of health care toward the needs of older persons in western societies has become a priority.1 Many previously considered "chronic" diseases (eg, impaired vision, hip or knee arthritis) can today be efficiently treated and solved. At the same time, because of the aging population, the prevalence of chronic conditions (eg, Alzheimer disease or cardiovascular diseases) is also increasing.
