During hot rolling, the elastic deformation and thermal expansion of the roll have a significant impact on strip quality. In particular, the effect of thermal expansion is greater in hot rolling than that in cold rolling. In this paper, under the assumption of an elastic roll and the consideration of heat transfer, the coupled thermal-elastic-plastic finite element model and the numerical analytical model of metal rolling formation are established. Since the strip temperature is higher in hot rolling than that in cold rolling, the considerations of coolant spray on the roll's surface, and coolant cover on the top surface of the strip are added to the boundary conditions in this article. In addition, an extended matrix is used to include the temperature variation and nodal deformation, and solve the transient temperature field and extent of nodal deformation of the strip. Then, this article proposes an iteration method of solving the contact deformation between the strip and the roll for hot rolling. The distribution of the roll's elastic deformation in the rolling region may be examined. The effect of the roll's elastic deformation distribution on the strip shape is also analyzed.
