A Numerical Study of Air Curtains for Open Vertical Refriger Rated Display Cabinets

The purpose of air curtain is to reduce the air exchange and hence heat and moisture transfer between the conditioned environment and surrounding ambient. In this study numerical simulations of open refrigerated display cabinets are conducted to investigate the effect of deflection angle of air curtain on the distributions of airflow velocity and temperature in the cabinets. Based on results obtained from the simulations, it is found that under the condition of air curtain discharge velocity 1m/s, the display cabinet will perform better energy-saving efficiency when the deflection angle of air curtain is adjusted between 0 and +10°.
