This investigation attempts to predict and analyze the dynamic behaviors of the full system of multi-rigid-body mechanisms mounted on flexible support structures via a rigid joint in three-dimensional cases. In this work, a computer-aided analytical method is combined with finite element analysis to derive the total equation of motion including the rotational equation of motion in terms of the fixed angles and develop a computer model, incorporating the Lagrange multiplier. The total equations of motion are solved by numerical integration, to simulate the transient response of the whole system, including motion of the system components and the externally applied forces. This approach will promote the function of the entire system during the engineering design phase. Finally, machine gun systems on a flexible mount with asymmetrical and symmetrical configurations are utilized as numerical examples.
