Structural health assessment using a partition and element model update technique

摘要

In response to the problem of limited number of measured modes, this paper proposes an improvement to a previously formulated damage extent algorithm based on a minimum rank perturbation theory. This improvement consists of determining the damage extent of each damaged partition of the structure independently which results in a dramatic decrease in the number of measured modes needed to obtain exact extent estimates The characteristics of the proposed improved MRPT are illustrated using a numerical simulation.
