In the process known as internal diffusion limited aggregation (IDLA) one constructs for each integer time n ≥ 0 an occupied set A(n) ∈ Z~2 as follows: begin with A(1) = {0}, and for each n let A(n + 1) be A(n) plus the first point at which a simple random walk from the origin hits Z~2 A(n).
