摘要

With the aim to know the structure of the Ostrya virginiana forest from the sierra de Zapaliname we made a census and measured the diameter breast height of the tree species, besides in the site were recorded: altitude, slope and soil data. There were 115 trees belonging to five species, with an average diameter of 10 cm. Ostrya virginiana is the dominant species, 108 trees were surveyed which have a total basal area of 0.827 m(2). Due to the relictual condition of the forest, management actions should be taken to ensure their conservation.
