Adult cutaneous Langerhans cell histiocytosis responsive to topical imiquimod.

To the Editor: Primary cutaneous Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) in adults is a rare, clonal prolif-erative disorder whose management is challenging because LCH responds inconsistently to different agents. Past treatments for cutaneous LCH have included surgical excision, topical or systemic steroids, localized radiation therapy, topical nitrogen mustard, phototherapy, methotrexate,total skin electron beam therapy, vinblastine, and systemic interferon. We report the first case of adult cutaneous LCH responsive to topical imiquimod.
