A conceptual model to the interactions between dry and wet patches in transition boiling was proposed to interpret the dynamic characteristics of the boiling system. Both gradual transition and sudden jumps between nucleate boiling and film boiling are properly interpreted in a mechanistic manner. [References: 20]
