摘要

The 1999 KPMG LLP economic study indicated that professional compensation for veterinarians was woefully inadequate, lagging far behind most other medical professionals with similar education. One suggestion of the authors of the study was that the profession should move toward raising fees to more fairly compensate veterinarians relative to the investment of time, energy, and resources. Increased fees also provide revenue for better compensating the clinic team as well as allowing the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment. It was and is easy to postulate that we need to raise fees, but the difficulty in actual practice is determining how to accomplish that while increasing the public's perception of the true value we provide.
