Blastomycosis in six dogs in New York state.

Blastomycosis was diagnosed in 6 dogs living in New York state between 1991 and 1992. This appears to be the first report of blastomycosis in this area. Symptoms of the 6 dogs included respiratory distress, anorexia, lethargy, cough, cutaneous mass,conjunctival hyperaemia and buphthalmos. It is suggested that environmental factors (moisture, soil type, presence of wild life and soil disruption) may explain how these dogs became infected.
