The purpose of this compendium is to provide information on chlamydiosis (also known as psittacosis, ornithosis, or parrot fever) in companion birds to public health officials, veterinarians, the companion bird industry, and others concerned with control of the disease and protection of public health. The intent of these recommendations is to facilitate the standardization of chlamydiosis disease control procedures. These recommendations will be reviewed and revised as necessary.
