Diverticulectomy was used to resect a colorectal diverticulum in a dog that. had undergone colopexy for treatment of recurrent rectal prolapse. A surgical stapling device was used to resect the diverticulum. Tenesmus and obstipation, which developed after diverticulectomy, resolved within 2 weeks. Positive-contrast. radiography of the colon, performed 9 months after surgery, revealed a slight narrowing of the colorectum, although the dog was clinically normal.
