The recent release of the AVMAs highly anticipated study of the veterinary workforce in the United States1 was an important milestone and provided valuable empirical data for consideration. Although some believe the study vindicates their assertion that academic veterinary medicine is producing too many graduates for the current market, we suggest that the study instead indicates that the issues are more complex and demand additional scrutiny and insight.
