摘要

The paper gives the results of an investigation of the processes of tool penetration and leaving a cutting zone in turning aluminum alloys using diamond-carbide tools. The authors have established the pattern of variation of cutting force components, measured the values of maximum stresses at the tool rake and flank faces during the tool penetration and leaving a workpiece. It has been demonstrated that at the tool penetration stage a ratio between cutting force components undergoes a change, stresses on the tool faces reach ultimate values, and the probability of the tool nose failure goes up.
