摘要

A new procedure for determining the hole densitiy at planar Cu and O in the cuprates based entirely on NMR is introduced. The electric hyperfine coupling observable in atomic spec-troscopy for various atomic states of Cu and O is used to analyze the NMR quadrupole splitting in terms of the hole content of the involved orbitals. From the hole content at Cu and O the cuprate phase diagram can be determined by NMR. The procedure is demonstrated for La{sub}(2-x)Sr{sub}xCuO{sub}4.
