This traditional oil crop grown in the tropical wet regions of the world has the potential to become a major economic crop for the farmers and the global economy as a whole with applications in multiple sectors - food, beverage, natural sweetener, oil, fibre, cosmetics, bioenergy and what not. The controversial information on nutritional characteristics of coconut and its products are being cracked.
