In February of 2006, The American Council on Pharmacy Education (ACPE) released the revised Accreditation Standards and Guidelines for the Professional Program in Pharmacy Leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy Degree.1 This endeavor was the culmination of a 3-year long process that included multiple opportunities for feedback from various stakeholders. Given the many changes that have occurred, and will occur, within the profession of pharmacy, this revision was a much needed update. As a result, new requirements were established for experiential training and preceptor development. The changes were required to be in effect by July 1, 2007.
