摘要

I read with interest the article by Jagger and colleagues1 on sharps injuries in surgical settings. This important study highlights the risks encountered in the operating room and the key role surgeons play in decreasing these injuries among themselves and among other surgical personnel. One of the most effective ways to do this is by using safety-engineered devices whenever feasible and appropriate as required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Bloodborne Pathogens standard.
