摘要

In recent years, there has been an increasing tendency in medical schools to incorporate in programs the humanistic aspects of medical practice. For example, the American Board of Medical Specialties adopted 6 areas of study for all medical programs: medical knowledge, attention to patients, communication and interpersonal skills, professionalism, learning on the basis of practice, and continuous improvement and learning [1]. In Chile, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Chile includes subjects related to the human aspects of medical practice in pregraduate courses, in addition to the creation of the Bioethics and Humanistic Medicine Department, whose objective is to include those disciplines both horizontally and vertically in the programs' curricula [2].
