Developed more than a century ago, medical imaging has become a cornerstone of modern medicine. Medical images provide unique "peeks" into the human body in ways not possible in the past. It is hard to imagine what medicine might be like today without the use of medical imaging. Imaging has now become an inseparable component of most diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, without which diagnosis and treatment cannot be rendered reliably and effectively.
