Teleradiology in Australia: at the crossroads of electronic health.

Teleradiology in Australia has matured considerably over the past 20 years and has proven to be a valuable and viable technique for service delivery across Australia and internationally. Barriers for teleradiology are increasingly being overcome, and the infrastructure and opportunities are now in existence. The next steps Australia needs to take are to bridge the gap between teleradiology and the electronic health record and to consider a national PACS.
