Over the past few decades, we have seen sustained and striking innovation in radiology . New technologies now rapidly produce high-resolution, multidimensional images that are interpreted by radiologists more efficiently than ever before [2]. Diagnostic imaging often produces better information than its more invasive alternatives, thereby making a vital contribution to the health of patients. But the recent debate over the rising volume of imaging procedures suggests that many outside of radiology do not see the same tangible benefits.
