ACHIEVING THE new Electric Orange finish on the Ford Focus ST was as much a test of intercompany teamwork as a test of creativity for BASF Coatings and Ford.BASF's on-site team worked with Ford to develop the application process at Ford's leading European manufacturing plant in Saarlouis,southeast Germany.The paint system uses a cathodic electrodesposition and primer,followed by four layers of paint:solid-colour basecoat,a clearcoat,on top of a special-effect layer,and then another layer of clearcoat.
