AN OVERVIEW OF THE STRUCTURE,THEORY AND CONTROL OF FOAM

Foam control can provide challenges for formulators as well as consumers.This article summarizes the principles and theories of foam in general,using laundry applications as an example.Based on the dynamics of foam structure and behavior,it describes factors that affect foam formation,demonstrates approaches for measuring and assessing foam,and outlines parameters for selecting appropriate antifoam systems.With this background,foam control theory is translated to current applications by illustrating methods of suitable antifoam delivery in liquid and powder detergent applications.
