Coatings World: How did the market for paints and coatings fare overall in 2013? Ton Biichner: All in all, 2013 was a year of two halves for AkzoNobel's businesses. At the early start of 2013 we indicated that trading conditions would continue to be challenging for the year and that proved to be the case, particularly in the first six months. In the second half volumes picked up as we started to see signs of stabilization, but currencies became a challenge. In Decorative Paints, full-year volumes were up three percent while our Performance Coatings business saw flat volumes.
