The use of cone beam CT in common radiotherapy treatments is increasing with the growth of image guided radiotherapy. Whilst the benefits that this technology offers are clear, such as improved patient positioning prior to treatment, it is always important to consider the implications of such intensive imaging regimes on the patient, especially when considering the fundamental radiation protection requirements for justification and optimisation.
