To fully use optical fiber cable features such as low loss, small diameter, and light weight, cables areinstalled over the longest possible unit distance using pullers installed in intermediate manholes todistribute cable pulling force. An optical fiber cable pulling system has been developed that measuresloading tension on the cable using tension sensors and automatically controls pulling speed so thattension is appropriate.
