In Helianthus annuiis van supergold, the polyploids and the chromosomal polymorphism (or) mosaicism were recorded at 0.2% and 0.3% concentration of colchicines; these results were considered to have a greater significance since these may lead to polyploid aneuploids, after stabilization they may form new races. The meiotic chromosomal behaviour of polyploids and chromosomal polymorphism (aneusomaty) were analyzed and explained in the paper. The lower doses of 0.2%, 0.3% colchicine are more effectivein generating beneficial mutants and the work is being carried out for more confirmative results and for furthering breeding programme using the studied variety of sunflower.
