It was interesting to read a further report on tibial stress fracture following the harvest of a free fibula graft in this journal.1 However, the authors mistakenly claim that theirs is the first report in the literature. We published an almost identical report in this journal's former guise as the BJPS in 2003, and indeed were able to cite three previous papers in the literature, resulting in a total of eight cases being reported in the past. Our cases are, however, remarkably similar in that our patient complained of pain 7 weeks post-operatively after walking up a Long hill and the patient described by Kabadaya et al. presented with pain 6 weeks postoperatively after climbing stairs.
