Perineural spread of malignant melanoma along digital nerve: A treatment challenge

摘要

Perineural spread (PNS) refers to tumour growth within or closely along the tissue of the nerve sheath. It is essential to distinguish between PNS and the perineural invasion that is routinely reported by histopathologists to describe the involvement of local nerves by the primary tumour. We present a case of non-desmoplastic malignant melanoma that recurred in the form of perineural spread along a digital nerve to the median nerve extending over a distance of some 15 cm.
