Yesterday, for the first time in over thirty years, I took the 95th Street exit off the interstate in North Miami and noted how the landscape had changed. The neighborhood had aged and what was once a thriving middle class neighborhood was now a slum. As a resident on D. Ralph Millard Jr.'s service, I had been responsible for making house calls to his out of town patients who were recovering from their facelifts at "The House of Renaissance" that was located in that neighborhood. The drive down 95th Street was for a different Millard service. I was driving to a local church where Millard's funeral service was to be held. He had passed away earlier in the week at the age of 92.Official obituaries detailing his distinguished career will be published in national newspapers and American plastic journals. Ralph self-published his autobiography Savins Faces in 2003.Last summer, David Freshwater, my son, compiled a complete bibliography of Millard's published works with PubMed links that is readily available online. Four of Millard's major works, the three Cleft Craft volumes and A Rhinoplasty Tetralogy, were digitized and made freely accessible through the Millard family.
