Bayer to build TDI plant in Dormagen, Germany

Bayer MaterialScience has been given permission by the Cologne district authority to build and operate a new high-tech facility for the production of TDI (toluene diisocyanate) at Chempark Dormagen. Completion and commissioning the plant are expected by mid-2014. Compared with conventional plants with the same capacity, the new facility is expected to reduce energy consumption by up to 60% and require as much as 80% less solvent.
