Evonik: first quarter sales slip

Evonik says it got off to "a somewhat moderate start" to 2013 compared with a very strong first quarter in 2012. Organic sales slipped 2% due to lower prices (-2%), while volumes remained stable. Overall, group sales dropped 4% to ?3.26 billion from ?3.41 billion during the same period a year ago due to the divestment of two small businesses in 2012, including the colourants business, which was divested at the end of April 2012.
