BASF sells CONICA sports surfaces to Serafin Group

BASF has agreed to sell its CONICA sports surfaces business together with its site in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, to Munich-based Serafin Group, a ?150 million-turnover company with diversified interests in plastics and consumer goods. BASF, which put the business up for sale early last year, describes it as a niche business and therefore not part of its strategic focus. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter. CONICA makes flooring systems for running tracks, sports halls, tennis courts and playgrounds.
