Hempel's acquisition of Crown Paints more than doubled revenues from decorative paints last year and led a 21% growth at the Danish firm in a "turbulent" market.Turnover surpassed ?1 billion for the first time, while increasing raw material prices impacted group profitability which was "not in line with [the company's] expectations for the year". Group operating profit in 2011 fell 22% to ?72 million, down from ?92 million in 2010, while revenue climbed from ?889 million to ?1.08 billion.
