Hexion hit by raw material price inflation

RAW material price inflation hit Hexion Specialty Chemicals during the fourth quarter of 2007, when EBITDA earnings was depressed by 16 million owing to rising input costs. However, the Columbus, Ohio-headquartered chemicals group, a world leader in thermoset resins for coatings and adhesives, still marked a year-on-year improvement in EBITDA of 2% to 125 million for the quarter and, for the full year, posted a 17% EBITDA rise to 611 million on revenue up 12% to 5.8 billion. Operating income for the year was up 22% to 302 million, excluding gains from sales of businesses.
