Rooting, Flowering and Fruiting in Fenugreek Cultivars

Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-greacum L.) is commonly known as methi and is widely grown for leaves (as vegetables), seed (as spice), green fodder and green manuring. The dried seeds, the leaves fresh and dried and the tender shoots are all consumed and is valued as food, flavouring agent and medicine. In spite of great utility of fenugreek, little attention has been paid on the improvement of this crop. Generally, locally available seed material of inferior quality is used which gives poor yield.
