Economics of Rice Cultivation on Bed Over Conventional System

In a study carried out to find out the productivity and profitability of rice planted on bed with conventional system, the increase was observed in panicle length (7.06%), number of grains per panicle (4.40%), thousand grain weight (1.58%) and yield per hectare (17.30%) in spite of lower number of hills per square meter (21.0%) in rice crop grown on bed over conventional system. Apart from high yield, bed planting system required low capital cost for rice cultivation. A net saving of 36.0 per cent was observed in rice cultivated on bed over conventional system.
