Performance Evaluation of Propeller Pump

Propeller pumps are useful for drainage of waterlogged areas and suitable under low head operations. Testing and evaluation of PAU make of propeller Pump was done under field situations. Pump was installed and operated with the help of a 5 hp diesel engine. During field testing the speed of the pump varied in the range of 1-1.75 m. The data on discharge and energy consumptions were collected. Discharge Variation due to head and speed was found to be highly significant, but there was no significant variation of hourly fuel consumption or specific fuel consumption of diesel engine for operation of propeller pump.
