Wax market opens up to alternatives

Changes in lubricant refining technology have led to a decline in the supply for petroleum wax. However, new formulations have emerged to compete for the vacated market space, says consulting firm Kline Group. The US consultancy has just completed a report of the global wax industry, estimated at around 9.6 billion pounds in 2010. Klines Global Wax Industry 2010: Market Analysis and Opportunities says that today, petroleum waxes represent 85% of global wax supply, dropping below 90% for the first time in decades. Petroleum wax has traditionally dominated the global wax industry.
