摘要

Calcium(Ca2+)ameliorationoftheplant’sgrowthresponsetosalinitydependsongeneticfac-tors.Inthiswork,supplementalCa2+didnotimprovegrowthinPhaseolusvulgarisL.cv.Conten-derunderhigh-salineconditionsandnegativelyaffectedseveralphysiologicalparametersinnonsalinizedplants.TheresponsetosupplementalCa2+wasexaminedusingplantsgrownin25%modifiedHoaglandsolutionatdifferentNa+:Ca2+ratios.Incontrolplants(1mMCa2+;1mMNa+)surplusCa2+(4or10mM)wasassociatedwithstomatalclosure,decreaseofhydraulicconductivity,sapflow,leafspecificdryweight,leafK+andleafMg2+concentrations,andinhibitionofCO2assimilation.Leafwatercontentwasenhanced,whilewater-useefficiencyanddrymatterwereunaffectedduringthe15dexperimentalperiod.TheCa2+effectwasnotcation-specificsincesimilarresultswerefoundinplantssuppliedwithhighexternalMg2+orwithacombinationofCa2+andMg2+.Relativetocontrolplants,salinization(50and100mMNaCl)causedadecreaseindrymatter,hydraulicconductivity,sapflow,leafMg2+activity,andinhibi-tionofstomatalopeningandCO2assimilation.However,NaCl(50and100mMNaCl)enhancedleafK+concentrationandwater-useefficiency.At100mMNaCl,leafwatercontentalsosignifi-cantlyincreased.SupplementalCa2+hadnoameliorationeffectonthesalt-stressresponseofthisbeancultivar.Incontrast,the50mM–NaCltreatmentimprovedstomatalconductanceandCO2-assimilationrateinplantsexposedtothehighestCa2+concentration(10mM).PhaseolusvulgarisisclassifiedasaveryNaCl-sensitivespecies.ThesimilaritiesintheeffectscausedbysupplementalCa2+,supplementalMg2+,andNaClsalinitysuggestthatP.vulgariscv.Contenderhasahighnon-ion-specificsaltsensitivity.Ontheotherhand,theimprovementingas-exchangeparametersinCa2+-supplementedplantsbyhighNaClcouldbetheresultofspecificNa+-trig-geredresponses,suchasanincreaseintheconcentrationofK+intheleaves.
