THE SECOND EDITION of Generalized Linear Models and Extensions is written for the scientist interested in understanding generalized linear models, methods and applications. It is assumed that the reader will have some exposure to multiple regression. In addition, to explore this book in detail (understand the statistical theory) the reader should have had a calculus-based course on statistical theory. However, the book is written in such a way that someone who does not have the statistical theory background can still gain considerable insight into the applications, methods, and interpretations as they apply to GLM. If the reader without a theoretical background is willing to accept the statistical theory and derivations as presented, they can benefit from the discussion of appropriate methods to use, necessary statistics, and interpretation of results. For each method presented, the authors provide the theory behind the method, discussion of its appropriate use, and at least one detailed example with discussion. The formulas are explained in detail but it is not necessary for the reader to master these derivations to comprehend the use and limitations of the methods.
