The Future of Nursing report: let's resolve to keep up the momentum.

ANEW YEAR traditionally means making resolutions that reflect a commitment to improve something in one's life. These resolutions often include eating improving one's diet, exercising, spending more time with friends; all of these things are important for a healthier and happier life. I am proposing that we, as a nursing profession, make a resolution that will lead to a healthier healthcare system and to a nursing profession with a stronger role in crafting such a system. I am proposing that we, as a profession, make a new year's resolution to keep up the momentum generated by the November 30, 2010 launching of the Institute of Medicine (IOM)Future of Nursing Report, commissioned by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Maintaining the momentum means moving forward with these recommendations and working together to develop strategies to constructively and effectively implement them.
