It is over 20 years since the influential Russian thinker Bakhtin (1981), in his writings on the dialogical principle, coined the term dialogism. It could be said and many authors have suggested that all knowledge of the human subject is formed through words, language and dialogue; through and in the process of questioning, listening, answering, agreeing, challenging and so on. According to Bakhtin all interaction takes places in the form of utterances; that is the social form of dialogue. Cosmologist Bohm (1980, 1996) contrasts dialogue with discussion, which interestingly has the same roots as percussion and concussion, meaning to break things up, emphasizing the idea of analysis.
