The Swiss Proteomics Society (SPS) was one of the first European associations to be created in the field of proteomics and emerged from an informal discussion among passionate scientists by the Leman Lake in 2000. Our first significant event was the SPS scientific congress in December 2001 in Geneva with more than 200 participants from Switzerland, neighbor and far away countries (France, Germany, USA, Brazil, etc). This annual meeting format was carried out until 2005, when we decided, because of the high affluence of proteomics societies and congresses, to transform it into a bi-annual congress. In the intervals, even years, we will assemble the Swiss and international proteomics community in a different way.
